Social dancing is something we've been talking about for a while now. If you go back to our FREE weekly dancing? Sign me up! post, we talked about this scene a little more and mentioned a couple of restaurants that open up their space for this. Things have changed ever since, so here's the latest update on where you can go social dancing in Nairobi. Welcome to post number 21, dancer friends!

Before we get into the details, the social dancing scene in Nairobi leans more towards the Afro Latin style of dance, which includes Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Semba,... among others. Social dancing is majorly partner dancing, so you have the choice of bringing your own partner or meeting dancers at the social. The point is to dance and socialize, so it's very normal to go without a partner. Disclaimer*** social dancing is very addictive! We are still trying to figure out what happens exactly, but all we know is that once you start going dancing, you never stop! We love it! Okay, onto the details.

We begin the dance week on Tuesday with Salsa at Brew Bistro (Westlands) from 7:30pm till late, hosted by The Dance Factory Kenya .

On Wednesdays, you can either go for Salsa at Brew Bistro (Ngong Road) from 7pm till late, hosted by The Dance Factory Kenya, or the Mid-week Afro Latin Social at Oysters & More (Village Market) from 5:30pm-11pm, hosted by Dance Artitude.

Similarly, Thursday has two options. There's Latino Night at Nairobi Street Kitchen from 6pm till late, hosted by Anne Marie and The Dance Factory Kenya. There's also Kizomba After Work at Artcaffe, Britam Tower (Upperhill) from 7:30pm -10pm, hosted by The Nairobi Dance Project.

On Fridays, we kick off the weekend with Afro Latin Fridays at Barrels and Stools (Westlands) from 6pm till late, hosted by The Dance Factory Kenya.

The Saturday socials are different from the weekday ones in that they vary in their consistency. For example, instead of the same ones taking place every Saturday, it's either every 1st and 3rd Saturday, every 2nd and 4th Saturday, or every 3rd Saturday etc etc. Here are the different options you have on Saturdays. There's La Rhumba at The Social House Nairobi (Lavington) from 6:30pm till late, hosted by Denasi Entertainment. There's Sip & Dance at Two Grapes and Wine ( Kilimani) from 4pm till late, hosted by Jos Lyon and Sophie. There's Afrosoul Connection at La Mesa (Movenpick Hotel) from 5pm- 12am, hosted by The Kizomba District.

We end the weekend with 2 socials on Sunday. There's Salsa Sundays at The Wine & Bottle (Westlands) from 4pm till late, hosted by The Dance Factory Kenya. There's the Latin Social at Oysters & More (Village Market) from 7pm till late, hosted by Dance Artitude.

We love the fact that you can go social dancing almost every day and that the options are endless. What better way to usher in the end of the year than with dancing? We encourage you to try a social or 3. You'll love it!
