Trust and the low hanging fruit.

I'm drafting this the day before our scheduled pop up class. We don't have any sign ups yet. It could go either of two ways...we could get last minute dancer friends showing up, or we could have another no-show class. My anxiety is side-eyeing me so hard right now. We recently enforced an "advance" and a "walk in" rate to encourage early sign ups and reduce the current uncertainty we're facing. I can confirm that it's not working (lol), at least not yet. The last time we had a no-show class, I felt led to share a very vulnerable video inviting you into the parts of my dance journey that I would much rather hide. It was scary, exposing, uncomfortable, and plain sucky. To my surprise, I received an overwhelming amount of positive and encouraging messages in response. Despite the unpleasantness of the events leading to that moment, I was grateful for the opportunity to allow myself to be seen and supported, even there.
So does this mean that you should expect another vulnerable video if things go unexpectedly tomorrow? Yes...just kidding, not at all. In as much as I appreciated the engagement, I believe that was a one-time thing that served its purpose. If we have another no- show class for whatever reason (deep sigh)...then so be it. It'll be devastating. It'll be confusing. It'll lead me down a rabbit hole trying to figure out the "whys?" and the next possible steps, which could look like re-strategizing or calling it quits. To be quite honest, the latter has been a low hanging fruit since the first no-show class I can recall, our 1st Anniversary in 2021. Any little obstacle since then and my mind goes, "Is this the green light, God? Are You trying to tell me something? Is it time?" And after these thoughts eventually quiet down, the fire in me gets rekindled each time as if to say, "Not yet. Keep going..."
"God takes care of those who trust in Him"(Nahum 1:7) was today's verse of the day. How timely! The reality of my dance life right now is that it's an opportunity to practice consistent dependence on God. This looks like trusting Him when there are sign ups and when there are no sign ups. When I'm thriving and when I'm ready to throw in all of the towels. When I'm dreaming my wildest dreams and when I'm wondering whether this is the green light to pivot. Life is unpredictable, and more so the life of a creative, but today's verse gives me hope that I'll be taken care of regardless. I hope it does the same for you. Let's watch and see how God chooses to take care of us.
Keep creating & sharing!
