"You're still a creative if you're not sharing it on social media." These reassuring words by Amy McNee take me back to a pivotal moment in my life where I decided to step away from the online spotlight for a year. It wasn't an easy choice, and I could hear that little inner voice insisting that the success of my dance journey relied heavily on my constant online presence. Despite it all, I followed my gut and continued my journey offline uncertain of the future...
Fast forward to a year later when I felt ready to reconnect with the world again, I stumbled upon an online poster advertising a final dance class by a company I really admired. Attending this specific class led to an unexpected opportunity, which then had a ripple effect resulting in consecutive open doors. The timeliness of this experience left me in awe, filling me with an abundance of gratitude for what I continue to believe was divine intervention.
As dancers, our bodies serve as our instruments, requiring holistic self care. Often, we feel like we'll miss out on opportunities when we decide to prioritize our well being. What we sometimes forget is that these opportunites are not guaranteed, so there's a 50/50 chance on the desired outcome. If this is the case, why not pursue these opportunities on our own terms? My experience serves as a testament that what is meant for us will find its way to us, regardless of our visibility. Let's begin to practice embracing what's best for us in the seasons we are in, our opportunities will remain uniquely ours.
Keep creating & sharing!
