Kena started dancing at a young age in primary school and began taking official dance classes at the age of 16 at The Academy of Dance and Art in Nairobi, Kenya. She then attended the College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas and graduated with honours, attaining a Certificate of Achievement in Dance. In Las Vegas, she was part of the Kelly Roth and Dancers Company and danced with the Kremer Collective, as well as the Happy Feet Latin Dance Company. She also was an instructor at Rhythms Dance Studio LV. Shortly after, she trained at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City, where she graduated with another Certificate of Achievement in Dance from the International Student Visa Program. Currently, she is working as a dancer, a choreographer, a teacher at different schools, and a manager of The Kena Kona Dance Center in Nairobi, Kenya.
